The 2022 version of Ponds & Forests meets at Smolak Farm in North Andover for a 24, 32, or 40 - mile bike ride.
All routes go out Dale St to Glendale Rd. The 40 turns right onto Lakeshore Rd. at mile 3, to ride along Johnson’s pond, whereas the other 2 stay on Main st 'till Lily pond rd at mile 4, to ride along Chadwick pond, (both emergency water supplies for Haverhill).
The 24 is the only route that uses the scenic flat Seven-Star Rd of Groveland. The 32 is simply extended from last season’s 27mi. ride, and the 40 route traverses a second Bradford pond, goes into East Boxford, & also South of 114 into Harold Parker Forest. Except for those in Boxford, the turns are arrowed with a white "1”.
Sandwiches, ice cream, and coffee is available at the farm, plus you can bring your own lunch to eat at picnic or cafe tables after the ride.
