Enjoy a 58 mile round trip ride on the NH Northern Rail Trail from Jamie Welch Park in Boscawen NH to the Danbury General Store for lunch and return. Riders can shorten the ride at any point be simply turning around! The trail is fairly remote so bring adequate fluids and emergency food plus spare tube, pump and patch kit. Helmets are required and a bell or horn is recommended. Hybrid, Cross, and Gravel bikes are best suited for this trail of hard packed dirt & crushed stone plus mountain bikes work well too. Road bikes can be used (some have ridden it on 25's) but 28 tires or larger make the going easier. Directions: Take Rt I-93 N. to Exit 17 from I-93, go WEST on US- Route 3 & 4 for 3.4 miles, Turn RIGHT on Depot St to the trail head.

The Northern Rail Trail follows a section of Boston & Maine’s abandoned railway heading southeast from Lebanon, New Hampshire that once went to Boston, stretching across the Mascoma Valley in central New Hampshire. The 23.8-miles between Lebanon and Grafton follow the Mascoma River and passes beside Mascoma Lake. The Merrimack County Section is now connected to this section, making the 46 mile trail the longest in New Hampshire. The unpaved trail has a mix of surfaces, including stone dust, wet areas and some coarse gravel.  View at Trailink   http://www.northernrailtrail.org/ http://www.nhrailtrails.org/ Boscawen Trail Map Click on the map for a larger version
