Fall is here! And it is time to ride the Pepper and Maple route in the season's changing colors. Come join other club members in a delightful journey through the farmlands, river valleys, and highlands of Groton, Pepperell, Brookline, Hollis, and Tyngsborough.
Two routes are offered for the ride: a short 32 mile route and a longer 46 mile route. Both routes overlap at various points, particularly the first crossing of the Nashua River south of Pepperell and the last eleven miles or so of each route.
Both routes also include short segments of dirt road: miles 13-14 for the short route, and miles 13.5-14.5 and miles 28-29 for the long route. Road bikes are quite suitable for these short, hard-pack segments.
For the long route, there are two places for refreshments in Hollis, NH: Buckley's Market and Cafe at mile 31.3 and Monument Square Market at mile 31.9.
This ride will start at 10:00 am due to a slightly longer drive to the starting point on Westford Rd. in Tyngsboro. Please be ready for a brief pre-ride talk at 9:50 am.
